  • Second attack: 5 terrorists shot dead running down Cambrils pedestrians

    August 18, 2017, 7:25 AM (IDT) Early Friday, Catalan police reported they had killed five terrorists wearing suicide belts in a shootout, after they drove their Audi A3 into pedestrians in Camrbils, two hours’ drive south of Barcelona. Six civilians and one police officer were knocked over and injured. One terrorist brandished a knife.The bomb belts were detonated by the police bomb squad This attack was linked by police to Thursday’s van and restaurant attacks in Barcelona that left 13 dead and 80 injured. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the Barcelona attack, but the van’s driver is now believed to be still on the run. The Cambrils attack was also linked to two earlier explosions at a house in the town of Alcanar, 120 miles south of Barcelona, on Wednesday night. Officers said suspects had been preparing explosives. Inside the house, a woman was found dead and a man injured in critical condition. The other 15 injured are thought to be neighbors.     August 17, 2017, 10:12 PM (IDT) Barcelona police have identified the terrorist who Thursday drove a van down Las Ramblas, murdering 13 people and injuring 56, as Driss Oukabir, who was born in Morocco in 1989 and lived in Spain. A Facebook page in his name identified him as being from Marseille and living in Ripoli, Catalonia. The page contained a video that spoke of a global Jewish conspiracy to take over the world and contained Nazi images.     August 17, 2017, 7:57 PM (IDT) A white van went careering down the Las Ramblas Blvd in central Barcelona Thursday, Aug. 17.crashing into crowds in massive terror attack which killed at least 13 people and injured dozens. Police are hunting for the driver and another man who fled on foot, and may be holed up nearby. A few minutes later, two armed men entered a restaurant.     August 17, 2017, 5:40 PM (IDT) General Joe Dunford, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters in Beijing Thursday that peace with North Korea is a “possibility” but warned that the US has "credible, viable military options" for dealing with Kim Jung-un regime regime.
